John caught up to Elizabeth in front of the stargate. "Uh, did you get the chance to talk to Ronon?"

"Yes, I did. Chatty fellow, isnīt he?"

"And?"

"He would be your responsibility."

"I knew youīd say yes!" John beamed.

"I havenīt said yes," Elizabeth replied, slightly irritated.

"Well, you were about to."

Elizabeth narrowed her eyes for a moment. "Yes," she then said.

"There yīgo!" he cheered confidently.

"Hmm."

Shortly after the conversation, John walked straight into Rononīs quarters. "Iīve heard you had a little talk with Dr. Weir."

"Right," Ronon said curtly.

"Fine. Now that you have..."

"Sheīs hot," Ronon interrupted him, a peculiar gleam in his eyes.

"Huh? What? Who?" John asked, puzzled.

"The leader of Atlantis," Ronon stated. "Didnīt you notice?"

"Ah...uh..." John stammered, pretty perplexed. The reason why he had come here in the first place was forgotten. Images of a half-naked Elizabeth in the tight embrace of big, strong Ronon were flashing through his mind. "I donīt think of her in that way," he lied, "sheīs my boss and..."

"So you wouldnīt mind if Iīll take my chances?"

"Youīre not her type," he declared, displeased.

"I see." Ronon grinned.

"I donīt know why we are talking about this anyway. I didnīt come here..."

"I know. You came here to ask me to join your team."

John frowned and prepared himself for a time-killing debate.

"The answer is yes," Ronon announced simply.

"Good," John mumbled, surprised

"But I want to know who it is, Sheppard."

"Who is what?"

"Which woman do you claim to be yours? Teyla or the leading lady?"

John stared at him. He canīt be serious. This is ridiculous. "This is a joke, right?"

"No, Sheppard. I just have to know. I fancy Teyla but if you tell me sheīs taken Iīll give it a try with the other one."

John wanted to hit him. He didnīt care if it would be his funeral. "Her name is Elizabeth."

"Sure." Rononīs grin broadened. "Then it is settled."

"Nothing is settled."

"No? I think itīs obvious where your feelings are heading."

"I..." The radio transmitter in Johnīs ear crackled.

"John?" It was her.

John held his breath. Perfect timing.

"John? Are you there?"

"Yes, Elizabeth?" He tried to ignore Rononīs mocking wink.

"I need to see you right away. Please come to my office."

"Okay," he agreed automatically. Great. Does this have to be now? Iīm not quite in control of... "I have to go." He headed for the door, relieved to escape the conversation.

"Donīt worry." Ronon sounded as if he was trying to hold back a laugh. "She is yours. I already figured that while I was talking to her this morning."

Without giving him the satisfaction to reply to such a silly statement, John hurried out to meet with Elizabeth. His feelings were a chaotic mess. She is mine? What did she say to Ronon which was that revealing? She never showed me...No. Thatīs wrong. She always sent me a lot of signals. She likes me. We are friends. But thatīs it, right?

Elizabeth was alone when he entered her office.

"Whatīs up?" he quipped, trying to hold his tone light and casual.

"Ronon."

He froze. "What about him?"

"Well, heīs very impressive and...uh..."

"...strong and good-looking," he chipped in thoughtlessly. "I can understand if a woman..."

"What are you talking about?" she said, bewildered.

"Uh...nothing. Iīm just..." ...deeply confused... "...tired."

"Really?" The expression in her green eyes stated she didnīt believe him.

"Sorry." He gave a nonchalant shrug. "What do you want to talk about?"

"About our conversation an hour ago?"

"What about it?"

"I had the impression you took my yes for granted."

"Oh you did, did you?"

"Yes, Colonel," she said accusingly.

Oh, itīs Colonel. Meaning this is serious. He smiled while he armed himself for a very long and trying discussion. Talking to men was so much easier.
